Accept credit cards using own secure server?

I have looked through the threads but cannot find an answer. I have found the threads which show how to set-up a payment option such as "phone through the payment" but this does not seem to fit my requirements.

I have just installed Squirrelcart for a client's website. My client has a merchant credit card account and can do the processing by hand.

We already have a secure server and I would like to pass the customer's order from Squirrelcart to a form on our secure server where the customer will finish off their order and add their credit card details. This information is then encrypted and emailed to our client.

How do I set up the Squirrelcart to pass the customer's order to our secure server?

    Many thanks
    Caroline

In Squirrelcart 3.xxx, the ability to manually take credit cards was removed. As I recall, this was done for a variety of issues around security of the sensitive information.

I use Payjunction, but I am sure other gateways behave similarly. You can configure the gateway to put the transaction on "Hold" status. What basically happens is the storecart processes the transaction, it gets an authorization code, but the transaction hasn't been processed as a final transation.

When you are ready to complete the transaction, you can change the status. With Payjunction, the funds hit your account from when you process the transaction in about 48 hours.

You do have the ability to edit the amount. Not sure what happens though if the amount is greater than the previously approved amount and the transaction then fails and you edited it.

Myself, I don't edit the transaction so what the customer gets as the final price is indeed the final price. Other stores I can see needing to do things a bit differently if shipping gets really complicated.

    Virtual Merchant

I used to have a credit card processing machine and had to switch to Virtual Merchant (on line processing) since I was no longer able to process credit card sales once I upgraded SC to version 3.

Like Beery_Asst said - Virtual Merchant allows me to take the sale but NOT process it, until I want to - sometimes 30 days (as I have a few 30 accounts)... however unlike Beery_Asst my money (once processed) ends up in my account in 12 hours or less...

I can also edit the amount of the sale less but not more. i.e. if the customers credit card was authorized for $150.00 I can edit the price anything less than $150.00 but not more. If I do try to make it more - it fails. I have only tried this once (since the customer wanted to add something to the original order) but, like I said - it failed...

As far as I know - Version 3 of SC does NOT allow offline processing... I think Jamie makes that very clear in one of the posts...
