I cannot get my FedEx to work since the upgrade to 3.4 and enrolling in web services via the online form. I have been using them via SC for years with the old system - am I missing something??
I just get a "rates not returned" error...

What steps are you following to trigger this error? Are you trying to request a rate, or generate a shipping label? What information are you entering on the form?
If you provide specific information, I can tell you why its not working. FedEx won't return rates for invalid shipments, which would include trying to ship via FedEx Ground to a residential address, trying to ship via FedEx Home Delivery to a business address, trying to ship to addresses that don't exist, etc...

It won't return rates for either a rate request or trying to create a shipping label. I am being careful what I am selecting and doing residential vs. business - home delivery/ground. It is almost like it doesn't even attempt to send the request and connect to fedex.
When I registered for the services, I did it from my home server (which is only on my local network) - then the site was pushed out to our hosting provider. Is it possible in the set up/configuration that it doesn't like something b/c of that? I cannot find a way to get back to the registration to do a fresh registration for the site.

Our error handling for FedEx is pretty detailed. If it was a communication problem you would get an error like:It is almost like it doesn't even attempt to send the request and connect to fedex.
Response not received. Possible communication issue.
You might want to try enabling diagnostics mode by logging in as admin and checking "diagnostics mode" in the Admin Options nav block on the storefront page. Then, try a rate request and see what the diag window tells you.
Alternatively, open a helpdesk ticket and provide access to your site and we can tell you why it's happening.
