Download as a Product

I am offering a paid download as a Product.
Is this the way to go?
Question come up because there is the "inventory" field on a Product that shouldn't be involved in a digital download.
Can that be turned off for an individual Product?

Or, more likely, am I way out in left field?

We don't have a feature to turn inventory control on and off on a per product basis. I'd recommend just setting the stock level to a very large number.
