Multiple State Taxes

Is there any way to add multiple tax rates within a state in a state where sales taxes are based on the county in which the customer resides?

We don't have a feature to do this. There are two options.

One is a workaround you could use right now, but is not ideal. Basically, just create new State records for the state you are charging tax in, and put the county in the name. Like:

NY - Some County
NY - Another County
NY - County three
etc....

You can create multiple state records like this in the control panel. Just make sure you leave the state abbreviation field set to the correct two letter abbreviation.

Your customers would need to choose the correct state choice for their county to get the right tax.

The more elegant option right now would be to use the database service from Zip2Tax.com, and some custom code in Squirrelcart to grab the rates on the fly. If you are interested in a price to add that code, just send us an email. It wouldn't be much. You would also need to pay whatever rates they charge as well to use their service.
