Images in SEO

It appears that the meta data included with images can be important to a website's over all search engine results.
Title exactly relates to page Title and the Alt attribute to the page description meta attribute.
At present, the Alt attribute contains the Name field of the product and the Title attribute contains "click for large image."
It would be useful to be able to SET those image attributes individually to improve SEO.

I think Jamie mentioned a while ago that this is being looked into because the name of the image file is also important, but currently is just the record ID and the image size: eg. 330_thumbnail.jpg.
