Files available for download before payment received

I'm working on setting up a new payment gateway, but for now am using paypal with IPN off due to several problems we've had.

I've noticed that if a customer purchases downloadable content, it is immediately made available for them to download, even while payment status is "payment pending."

Seems to me the download should not show up in their download files tab until payment status is updated to "payment received." As it is, somebody could add all my downloadable content to their cart, checkout, but never complete payment, and download all the files

Downloads are offered based on how you configure them. For most merchants, an order is not going to exist unless payment was received. In your case, because you have IPN and AutoReturn off (that's a guess), you need to tell Squirrelcart what you want the status to be in your download records.

It is usually a good idea to add a condition to your download (or download section) rules to check the order status anyway, as if you do not and you mark an order as voided or refunded, your download rules will still apply.
