Tracking inventory for color and size options

I have a client on SC 3.1.3. One of their product is a tshirt that has multiple sizes and colors. They'd like to track the inventory by size and color.

Right now they have an option for size, and another for color. They would like to keep track by both... so they'd know how many white small, white medium, white large, etc.

The only way I could think of was to set up an option of "Size & Color", and then have Option Choices of "White S", White M", White L", etc., and then track inventory that way.

Is that the best way to do that, or is there a more elegant solution?

That is the best and only way to do it, at least until we add a feature to group options together for inventory purposes.
