Upgrade from SC 2.6.5 to latest version - The process

I've looked at this for some time, but am still not clear about the entire process regarding an upgrade from ver 2.6.5 to 3.?.?. The manual says that ver 2 templates are not compatible with ver 3. I have a site using highly customised templates. If I'm not uploading my custom theme to the new version, where does that leave me? Do I have to start all over customising ver 3 templates? Is there any short cut to get the site back looking as it is? Does anyone provide a service to do this? I can't afford to have the site down for any length of time.

    Any advice much appreciated.

Yes, unfortunately. Version 2 needed some major template work. The markup in version 2 was not completely valid XHTML, and the CSS was not completely valid either. We also were using a lot more template files, and a lot less semantic HTML. In order to make improvements to address all of that, we had no choice but to redesign the templates. You won't have this problem going from one version 3 to the next and hopefully won't have it down the road going to version 4.

We can give you a reasonable price to create a version 3 theme that looks just like your version 2 custom theme you are using now. If you'd like a price, just shoot us an email with a URL to your store and I can get back to you today:
