Here is a preview of some more new features coming soon in v3.3.0.
We've had a "New Products" category for quite some time. If you are not familiar with it, see this page:

This category is automatic, in that you can't add products to it. Products are shown based on whether they are new or not - based on your store settings.
As of v3.3.0, we've added 2 new automatic categories bringing the total to 3. We've also added additional functionality for these 3 automatic categories as follows:
1. First, we've noticed that some merchants new to Squirrelcart had a habit of renaming the New Products category, thinking it was just any old category record. They would rename it to something like "Books" or "Widgets" - basically something that does not imply "New products". This obviously will then be confusing at a later date when they realize they can't add products to it.
To discourage this, we've added a special fieldset at the top of these automatic category records, which looks like this:
2. We've added an "All Products" category, and a "Best Sellers" category. These work as you would expect them to.
3. While you could create discounts based on category in older versions, and could choose "New Products" as the category - that discount would not work because this category did not actually contain products in the traditional sense. This change fixes that, allowing you to create discounts for New Products, All Products, and Best Sellers. It is now much easier to create a storewide discount for all products without having to select every category in your store.
