Way to designate manufacturer/supplier for products

What I would personally find useful under a product record is a Manufacturer or Supplier field. Perhaps even some extra fields so that you can enter the Supplier Tel: and Email for re-ordering.

Sometimes I can't remember where I have got a certain product from so it would be useful there. Also, I generate some queries against the DB so that I can pull of stock by supplier but they only way I can currently do that is to use a prefix in Product Code field to something like ABC-12345. Meaning ABC might be the supplier and 12345 the product number.

A dedicated field or fields for keeping Supplier info would be useful. Then again I realise that that would require a Supplier Table and a relationship to the product so may be a bit more involved.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the suggestion. That would certainly be useful for some merchants. Version 3.3.0 is changing the "Warehouses" feature. Records that are now Warehouses are going to be "Locations", with settings on them to designate whether the location is a warehouse, a store, etc... We are then using that additional data to reference some of those locations in some new features coming soon.

We could probably tie into that somehow to specify address info for manufacturers or suppliers.

I'm going to split your comments and this one into a new thread and drop it in "Feature Requests" as I intended this particular thread for discussing the features that have been added to the upcoming release.
