    Output for mobile clients

Separate output for mobile devices, simplified and condensed properly for small screens; light on the javascript, styling and such.

The short solution could be to allow for a switch in the control panel that would say something like:
Mobile Device - Default Theme: (squirrelcart_mobile)
*One of the options being something like: 'ignore mobile device theme' to enable/disable this feature

Basically, allowing for the cart to recognize, flag, and present specific info to mobile users.

just wondering if there are any plans to produce a mobile 'theme' for i-phone / android platforms?

    ...this from neowave:

"Mobile phones are cheaper than PC's, there are three times more of them, growing at twice the speed, and they increasingly have Internet access. What is more, the World Bank estimates that more than two-thirds of the world's population lives within range of a mobile phone network. Mobile is going to be the next big Internet phenomenon. It holds the key to greater access for everyone - with all the benefits that entails."

    Thoughts...

Just bought my first iPhone 4 (been a hardcore Blackberry User for 5 years)... um love it!

    Question...

    1. Would there be some type of browser detect script? (To direct visitors automatically or would it be a "click here for mobile browser)
    2. Would this require a second store or simply a new CSS? (when I look at Facebook etc. I notice 2 different URL's)

Looking forward to this. I agree, more and more folks are going to be buying from their mobile devices...

Working on my first iPhone (mobile) storefront page

    Jamie,

I now have a mobile site / different from main site as follows:

    Main Site: www.woodwickcandles.ca
    Mobile Site: www.woodwickcandles.ca/m

How can I direct the store to use my mobile theme and not my current theme. It appears you can only have one current theme. Help...

    John

We don't have a feature to send a customer to a different location based on whether or not they are using a mobile device. You would need custom programming to handle that.

As for detecting if they are using a mobile device, this script could be used for that:

+1 on the need for a mobile theme. I have someone working on an Android app that will direct people to my resellers and will hopefully allow users in other areas to place mail and local delivery orders on my site directly from their smartphones. The store locator is not too difficult but the shopping cart part is the challenge I think.

I looked at my site (SC 3.1.0 Main Street theme) via my smartphone using Opera Mini browser and everything on product pages rendered more or less ok except for the ADD TO CART button - it was completely invisible.

That's almost funny. I'm worried because more and more shoppers are using smartphones to shop online.

Opera Mini 6 on iOS4 renders the add to cart button fine in the Main Street theme.

    hi Jamie

it's really weird how there is no sign of the button - I even had a customer mention it a while ago. I don't remember hacking anything on the product template file which might affect the button but it must be something I have done on that file. I've put Facebook 'recommend' buttons in the file and those are invisible in Opera Mini too.

I took a peep at the product template file in dreamweaver just now and can't see anything in or near the ADD TO CART button code that I have touched.

I'm using Opera Mini 6.1.25375 on HTC Desire HD in both landscape and portrait view.
