    Yahoo hosting and SSL

Yahoo, which we use to host our site, offers SSL as part of their package via redirecting to their secure server. But, I'm wondering if using that is a good choice.

We attemped to configure it by copying the store folders to a new SSL subdirectory as Yahoo instructs, and edited the config.php variable, but never got everything working properly. Clicking on some product categories still linked to the original location, and those that did link to the new secure location displayed a security warning about secure plus unsecure items. (I imagine that may be that some frames, navigational items, etc. were not in the secure folder.)

Anyway, we set everything back to the original unsecured setup temporarily. Before proceeding, I'm wondering if we should even bother trying the Yahoo-provided SSL solution. Would we be better off buying our own SSL certificate to use with Yahoo hosting, or should we move to an entirely different host?

Any comments on your own experience would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Rick

I personally would get your own ssl, most hosts will even install it for you, you can get a basic one for pretty cheap, or spend more if you like i have an SSL from comodo I cant remember what I paid though. As far as yahoo for hosting, i have never used them, are you happy with them?

Have you tried the SC hosting partner http://www.squirrelcart.com/jumpline_offer.php

That is who I use, server is pretty good, and customer service is good when I totally mess things up.

    Unhappy

Yahoo informed me they are not able to support use of a SSL certificate that we provide, nor do they sell them.

I am now in the market for a new host, and will check out Jumpline.
