Linking to external download file

Is there a way to add an external file such as http://www.domain.com/file.mp3 to the download module?

Or how about simply selecting the html type and redirecting to that page instead of downloading it. Who would want to sell an html page anyway?

I have a reseller download link that is updated quite regularly but keeps the same URL.

Any ideas?

We don't have a feature to send the customer to an external URL for a download. The security we have in place to check whether or not they could download could be easily bypassed using an external URL.
