Multiple Items In The Same Package

How Can i setup the shipping so if someone orders 1 dozen A Golfballs and 1 dozen B Golfballs and the shipping should come to $8.80 but its charging full shipping on both items ($6.80).

    Example
    Order 1
    Golfballs A Shipping $6.80
    Golfballs B Shipping $6.80

What I want it to be able to do in my golfball category
    Order 1
    GolfBalls A Shipping $6.80
    Golfballs B Shipping $2.00
    Golfballs 3 (if added) $2.00
Total Shipping $8.80 (in the same order)

But if some one places a new order just for Golfballs B the single price on shipping is $6.80

    Dose this make sense

I dont want to charge people full price on shipping for multiple items ordered in the same category.

So For Gofballs the first item's shipping cost $6.80 and each additional item cost $2.00 in the one order.

I need to work somthing out.

This never seemed to be addressed yet there are a few of us who obviously could use some direction if possible...

    Using v2+

    Thanks

The scenario in the original post in this thread from 4 years ago is not easily possible. You can create shipping rules to designate what to charge for shipping for the entire order. On those shipping rules, you can check for the presence of any products you like. So, you could theoretically setup the exact same scenario as listed in the first post.

However, if you do so, and someone orders anything beyond the scenario you've setup, no additional shipping will be charged. You would then need to create a large number of shipping rules to account for every possibility.

We will be improving our shipping rule system in the future. In the time being, you are probably better off using real time rate lookups.

    Thanks Jamie !

Um... typically we don't ship tons of different product... maybe up to a limit of 5 or so. Is it possible to get together with you some how to help me get started on creating shipping rules?

Would it be like if someone ordered:

    Product 1
    Product 2
    Product 3
    ---------
    Shipping total

    then another rule:

    Product 1
    Product 1
    Product 1
    Product 2
    ---------
    Shipping total

If I am guessing close then I also am guessing the SQ checks to see if an order meets a rule set and if so then it applies the rule?

Thanks Jamie = you'be been a great help to me over the last few days!

You can check just about anything with rules. So, the simpler you can conceive it, the better. If you don't care about what they are ordering, and just care about how many, that simplifies things. You could for example set shipping to be $5.50 when they order 1 to 3 items, $8.50 when they order 4 - 8, $12.50 when they order 9 or more, etc....

You can also create rules to match to particular products, but that will require more rules for most people.

If you give me the exact criteria you are trying to match, I can give you a screenshot showing a rule that handles it.
