3rd party Squirrelcart modules, add ons, etc...

We want everyone to be aware that there are currently no authorized 3rd party add-ons or modules for Squirrelcart. Consequently, any installation or use of a 3rd party module that alters the core code of Squirrelcart (themes and templates excluded) that is not specifically sanctioned by us *may* void your support contract.

    Unhappy Add ons, etc...

Does this mean no one can produce skins for this cart? The skins that come with it are pretty grotesque. Metal with bolts in the shopping cart windows? >barfing< Maybe you should have a skin template posting page to help produce cleaner looking shopping cart pages.

Themes (skins) are not included in the above statement. You can create or edit any theme you wish, though it's strongly advised that you do not modify the "Squirrelcart" theme as this holds the master copy of all the template files.

The above post was made due to a few unauthorized add-ons that were floating around. Some people installed them and came to us for support after problems had occurred. Since we didn't create the add-ons we had no way of providing support. Also, the use of such add-ons will typically cause problems during future upgrades.

if we build our own custom add-ons, is that okay? obviously we won't get support for it, but otherwise? will it invalidate our support?

You can add code that you write for your own use. We only support modifications to template files. If you make modifications to other files (functions, etc..) and need support, let us know that you've made other changes so we don't assume we are dealing with code written completely by us. If we discover a problem is due to custom code you've written we can't help you with it.
