To me, the most critical factor in choosing a shopping cart is simplicity for the customer.
My company produces just one item, and has it available in several colors. Eventually, we might add a few more items but never hundreds. As a result, our needs are simple. Unfortunately, most shopping cart software seems to complicate things in order to allow for millions of products in thousands of categories.
So far in my search, Squirrelcart looks like the most likely solution so let me ask you just how simple it can get.
Currently we are using a shopping system that I created myself. You can view it here: http://www.miracleblanket.com/order.html. When I designed it, we had five fabrics and didn't plan to ever have more. Now we're going to have more. (Let's hear it for planned obsolescence! )
As you can see, it's incredibly simple to buy from us.
In a perfect world I'd find a way to duplicate the existing process but with the ability to have an arbitrary number of products. In the real world, that's unlikely in the extreme, but I want to come close.
So, I want to be able to have all my products displayed on a single page with the ability to order multiple items from that page with a single form submission. No categories.
How close do you think Squirrelcart could come?
