I've been looking around to see what limitations (if any) there are on image & thumbnail sizes for the products. I know I need to stay within "web reasonableness", but don't know what squirrelcart requirements are.

Thanks!

Chris

Hi Chris,

The actual maximum file size allowed is 2,000,000 bytes, which is way beyond reasonability!

Thanks,
Jamie

Thanks!

Any max height, width sizes?

And, how are thumbnails handled? Are they dynamically resized from full images or ?? What is their required/recommended height/width?

Nope.

They are not resized dynamically. It really is a personal preference, but I like to see the largest side between 80 to 150 pixels in length.

Thanks,
Jamie

Jamie..I could create the resize scripts/addon so then the thumbnail/fullsize images can be controlled from control panel settings and then the format of the cart can be set. I see this as the only major shortcoming of vs 1.1.0 if I am left resizing my clients images, have i really got the best solution for them? Users of the cart don't always understand how the images size stretches their layout...since the only control of the display is the actual size of the image uploaded.

Hi,

We will be adding an image resize feature soon. We've been incredibly swamped with the UPS OnLine Tools integration, which is in final testing phase.

Thanks,
Jamie

Sounds like maybe you could use some help..and some of us who are making these tools for ourselves could help you out. I personally can't wait till you can unsderstandably get to it...but I could share with you.

For instance, I need to convert a site using x-cart (russian) to squirrelcart..I'm sure you might one day have a need for this or a client.

Hi,

We are definitely not interested in collaborating with anyone in the development of new features/code. I appreciate your offer. We are very busy, and are working on new features as fast as we can, and in the order that we deem most appropriate, giving demand, etc.

Our focus of late has been on UPS OnLine Tools integration, and Order History / Management. When that is complete, we will release the next version. After that, we will be working on image resizing, support for discounts, and support for running the cart with "register_globals" set to OFF.

When we begin implementing multi language support, we will be looking for people interested in assisting with transalation.

Thanks,
Jamie
