In my humble opinion there are only 2 things that are needed to make SC the perfect cart available. First of all, it needs discount coupons implemented. Secondly, it needs a better structure of orders. Admin should be able to see all the orders and the status of it .. shipped, pending, completed, failed, etc.
When do you think those feature will be or can be implemented .. and when the next version will come up?

I agree on the structure of orders, It's very difficult to track down a lost order currently. If, for example, the email to merchant fails (and I had this happen for some unknown reason, but then i upgraded to the latest version), trying to figure out what items were ordered is a HUGE pain.

Better order management is something that's in development, and a portion of it will make it into the next release. As is stands now, you'll be able to click on an order from the control panel and see the entire contents of that order, as the customer sees it at checkout.
Coupons and discounts are definitely a planned feature. I can't say whether or not they'll make it in the next version, but they're both high on the to-do list.

I think a big weakness of squirrelcart is it's reliance on email for orders. It would be nice if there was some kind of 'order filled' check mark in the cart too, so you could use it to keep track of orders you have sent.

still, I think this feature is HUGE to many people, including myself. I am really anxious to see it in an upcoming release.
