Order control, tracking, etc...

We will be adding many order control features. These will include the ability for a store owner to view orders similar to the way they look at checkout. They will be able to mark the status of them, i.e. "pending payment", "shipped", "back order", etc. The customers will be able to log into the cart, and view all of their orders, and the status of them.

No, unfortunately not. The only ways to see the orders is either via email, or if you click "orders" in the cart. This doesn't show you much though, and is really only for programmatic use. We will be enabling this feature in future versions though! It would definitely be nice!

Is there admin order management coming? Such as order review, status setting, rebilling, crediting, etc.

Yes. We do not have an ETA. We are focusing all our attention at the moment to meet a deadline to implement UPS online rate tools.

When we do implement order management, it will not have the ability to interact with the payment gateways for issuing credits, or rebilling. We will look at that down the road, but there are too many payment gateways to support, and it would be a monumental task to get it working with all the gateways. At first, it will be able to:

display orders in a usable fashion
display order stats
allow you to mark the status of the order - ie, backorder, shipped, delivered, etc...
allow customers to view their orders

Once we get that basic functionality, we will expand upon the feature as time warrants.

Thanks for the feedback Jamie. It has been an interesting adventure to get Squirrel Cart working under phpWebSite.

This would actually be a great feature to add. For example I did not receive one of the order confirmations recently (due to the /var partition being full on the webserver) and this way I could easily look it up afterwards. I only noticed, since it was a PayPal Payment and I got their notification.

If would be even better if this could optionally also include messaging to the customer as well.
