In my installation I set up the squirrelcart folder to be password protected so that no one would even see the admin login. It works alright, but when I hit the store code, it now requests a password everytime, certainly because squirrelcart/cart.php is being included everytime. I wanted to hide the admin stuff completely, but now I'm wondering if that is possible. Is there a proper way to do this, or is squirrelcart just not set up to handle that?

Squirrelcart really isn't setup for that type of situation; however, if you want to keep trying, you might want to consider using .htaccess to protect a single file (squirrelcart/index.php) rather than the entire directory. We've never tried this and I don't know if it will work, and if it does work I don't know if it will impact anything else in the cart, so no support will be provided for it. Use at your own risk! :squirrel:
Here's a link that explains how to use .htaccess to protect a single file: http://webmaster-resources.web-mastery.net/protect-file-htaccess.html
