Can the cart handle putting together gift baskets? I experimented a little with creating a category for gift baskets, then a product for a particular gift basket, but got confused in setting up options for the basket. The task would be to pick a theme for the basket, then select different types of items such as toys, treats, clothes (these are pet gift baskets). Then from the item types select the particular toy, treat, etc. The completed basket would have the accumulated total of the individual items.

Second question, is there a way to mark a particular product as being "On Sale"?

Third question, can the cart display a javascript running total of all items put into the shopping cart?

Fourth question, can the cart handle offering discount coupons?

Thanks,
Miriam

Hi Miram,

Thanks for checking us out.

Can the cart handle putting together gift baskets?

There is no easy way to do that. You could add the baskets themselves as products, and then add the individual options as product options, which might work for you. Please see our help for more info on product options:

http://www.squirrelcart.com/help

Please note that the link above it to BETA help for the upcoming release of v1.5.0. Most of it still applies to v1.4.0.

Second question, is there a way to mark a particular product as being "On Sale"?

We have no discount features at this time. We will be adding them in the future. You would have to just change the price of the item, and add something in the description to indicate that it is on sale.

Third question, can the cart display a javascript running total of all items put into the shopping cart?

We have a nav box in the left navigation titled "Cart Options" that shows the total number of items in the cart, and the subtotal of them. It is not using javascript.

Fourth question, can the cart handle offering discount coupons?

This will also be coming in the future with the discount feature.

Thanks,
Jamie
